How to Enable Data Roaming for Your eSIM

To use the internet abroad with an eSIM, simply turn on «Data Roaming» — your prepaid plan has a fixed cost, without extra roaming charges.

This setting allows your phone to connect to local partner networks in your destination country. Don’t worry — turning on Data Roaming for your eSIM doesn’t affect your bill or trigger extra charges. The data usage is deducted only from your travel eSIM plan, not your home carrier. With a travel eSIM, you have a prepaid plan with a clearly fixed cost. Below, we’ve provided step-by-step instructions for both iOS and Android devices.

Enabling Data Roaming for eSIM on iPhone

Below is an instruction that works for older models, such as iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone XR, and newer models, like iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15. Here’s what you need to do through your smartphone’s «Settings»:

go to cellular

Go to «Cellular».

select your esim profile from the list

Select your eSIM digital profile from the list (it might be called «TooSIM eSIM», «First», «Second», or any custom name you gave it).

turn on data roaming

Turn on «Data Roaming».

Note: If you keep your primary SIM/eSIM from a local carrier and want to avoid extra charges, turn off its internet access and leave only calls and SMS enabled.

Enabling Data Roaming for eSIM on Android

The instructions are universal for any smartphone, such as Samsung Galaxy S23, Google Pixel 8, OnePlus 11, as well as Xiaomi 13 or Oppo Find X6. Menu names may vary slightly. Here’s exactly what you need to do:

choose sim & network, mobile network
  • Open «Settings» and run to «Network & Internet».
  • Choose «SIM & Network» («Mobile Network»).
enable data roaming
  • Select your eSIM Plan (it may be called «TooSIM», «Secondary», or any other name you assigned).
  • Turn on «Data Roaming».

Important: In addition to enabling roaming, make sure «Mobile Data» is also turned on. Also, just like on iPhone, if you are using your home SIM alongside your eSIM, we recommend turning off its internet access.

Conclusion

Turning on «Data Roaming» is a mandatory step. Without it, you won’t have internet access, even if your phone shows a strong signal (4G/5G). On both Android and iPhone, you can enable this option in just two taps. Everything is done directly through «Settings».
